OMAHA, Neb. — On Tuesday, October 28, the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) proudly recognized the outstanding achievements of individuals and programs across the emergency medical transport industry during the 2025 Community Awards presentation at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) in Omaha, Nebraska. The AMTC Awards Celebration honored excellence, innovation, and impact across a range of categories.

This prestigious award recognizes an individual or team that has made an outstanding contribution to a neonatal/pediatric transport service in any of the following areas: enhancing safety, education, leadership, or patient advocacy by developing or promoting the improvement of patient care in the medical transport community. Dr. Kelli Lund is the medical director of both the neonatal flight team and the TeleNICU virtual program. Her innovative approach to combining these two specialties has created a service that is unparalleled in its scope and impact.
Dr. Kelli Lund and the University of Utah AirMed Neonatal Team have developed a groundbreaking model that integrates the TeleNICU virtual program with the neonatal flight team, allowing for immediate expert consultation and rapid patient transport during critical newborn emergencies. Through real-time video assessments, coordinated flight activation, and advanced in-person training for rural nurses, their program bridges the gap between remote hospitals and tertiary care, elevating neonatal outcomes and transforming the standard of care across the region.
