World Breastfeeding Week 2024

Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2024! WBW started in 1992 to promote and support breastfeeding, and is celebrated August 1-7 each year. This year’s theme, CLOSING THE GAP: BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT FOR ALL aligns with International Biomedical’s mission – to provide the best possible outcomes for babies.

International Biomedical acquired Ameda, Inc, in 2023 to expand our support of vulnerable newborns. Ameda manufactures breast pumps and breastfeeding accessories, including two hospital-grade multi-user pumps, Pearl and Platinum. Ameda’s Pearl pump can help a new mom achieve full milk production within two weeks of giving birth, helping moms whose babies are unable to latch provide their own breast milk. Using Ameda’s Platinum pump, a study showed moms were able to produce 1,000 mL a day of breast milk. Ameda’s pumps are highly customizable with different flange sizes available. Ameda’s HygieniKit makes pumping easier with its closed system that keeps the tubing and pump clean. No fluids enter the tubing so it’s much easier to clean! And it’s universal, so moms can transfer seamlessly from hospital to home and continue pumping with Ameda’s home pumps, the Mya Joy and the Mya Joy PLUS.

Pumping technology from Ameda is CLOSING THE GAP and making breastfeeding accessible for all moms. Thank you to all of the nursing and lactation professionals who CLOSE THE GAP by supporting new moms throughout their breastfeeding journey.
